K-On! Series review

k-on rock

wtf KyoAni?!

I don’t even know where to begin. The last episode left me absolutely speechless as to how pointless things got. Ever since Haruhi, Kyoto Animation seems have had a licence to put out moe mediocrity and fanboys seem to swallow their shit up with every iteration. Kinda like how Apple fanboys lap it up every time an existing product is updated for the umpteenth time before something truly revolutionary hits. Haruhi was Kyoto Animation’s iPhone. Lucky Star was their 3G and K-On! is their 3Gs.

I exist for the fanboys

Yes, the anime started out absolutely wonderful, but my God it took a nose dive after episode 6. Since, then, there has been no real character development. And in an anime such as K-On!, where plot is practically non-existent, I was hoping for some better activities in the Light Music Club other than seeing everybody being all cute and doing silly things yet managing to play good music at the end of the day. How many times am I going to see the same plot again and again? To the point where a totally unnecessary character had to be introduced and an entire episode ripped off repeated just to prolong the series?

I exist for the crazy

The last episode was the epitome of this shit being dragged out to please the fans. The first half shows some really random stuff that everybody wants to do and a lot of time is spent on showing all 5 girls going about their mundane activities. Towards the end it seemed like everybody is just screwing up and all girls need to work together and have fun, but no. The whole thing ended in everybody “growing up” by doing ‘responsible’ things. The fuck? How’s about ending with some sort of performance. This too would’ve been redundant, but at least it would’ve been in spirit of the whole ‘Light Music Club’ scene.

I exist for the moe

See, wasting time on ordinary shit is only acceptable if it’s in Haruhi, because it never is ordinary with her. Nothing is. Plus the characters are too good, except Mikuru. Too moe and well deservedly messed around by Haruhi. Anyways, back to K-On!

I just wish that Kyoto Animation would’ve done something more with the great characters they had instead of introducing another character to up the moe factor of the show. Also, giving us more high-school jinx and band performances instead of making the little day-to-day activities of the girls look cute.

I exist to piss of th

Maybe I’m being unfair. Perhaps K-On! was more in the veins of Clannad or Kanon or Air. Nah, those animes, while definitely being ultra moe, were also heavy on the drama and a plot that was going somewhere.

For people who want to start watching it, expect nothing more than what you had with Lucky Star. Great characters, nothing happens in the end except whatever they do everyday. Maybe I expect greatness from everything KyoAni does. Whatever, Haruhi season 2 better be good or Ima have to choke a bitch.

k-on end

I wish this existed

You tagged this post “Ui” yet I do not see her anywhere in the post.

@ Baka-Raptor – lol, someone already picked on the Ui tag :p True, I didn’t mention her specifically here, but she’s a part of it nonetheless.

@ Snark – I didn’t think anyone else would agree with this, but hey, good to know I’m not alone!

You’re all wrong – Yui is god. Haruhi is only demigod.

    K-ON > ALL
