Losing friends, losing family.
Well, this episode starts with an interesting intro from Nathan instead of the usual philosophical preaching from Mohinder. And for a split second I was wondering why the episode was called ‘angels and monsters’ instead of ‘angels and demons’ when it hit me :p
Anyways, a rather…
…scene follows where we see Peter trying to kill his dear mom in order to get answers out of her. Now I understand that he just recently got Sylar’s power, but going on an emo rage destroying everything is not the right way to do things. Sylar has much more style and proceeds with much more subtlety.
Later on we see Claire doing a ‘I-wanna-save-the world’ by killing all the bad guys. Well, she isn’t the emo princess anymore. Oh no, the new and improved determined Claire will rid the world of villains just like her father. Except she doesn’t kill, well…
Cut to Daphne and we see her making a deal with the devil…
What the hell is going on here? I though he was just a figment of Nathan’s uncreative imagination. At any rate, we see the beginnings of how Daphne starts to join the villains heroes villains of the future.
Oh, and Mohinder is…
You know, in the name of science….the greater good. Which apparently involves sticking his victims (including Maya) to the wall with some sticky, yet hard as nails, glue. Like the Queen Alien circa 1984. And I don’t even want to know where he excretes this stuff from.
Back to our amateur vigilante, Claire’s first mission was a complete failure when she realises that the guy she wants to turn in is actually good; and was just…
All he wants is to be reunited with his family, and Claire decides to help. Soon though, the Dynamic Duo come in to take this guy down; but somehow he manages to escape in the confusion between Claire and Noah when she realises who…
Wel also get to see that Claire is not the only one to experience the cold hard truth of life. Both Nathan and Tracy learn that…
…as a result of genetic modification by The Company. Understandably pissed off, Nathan finally walks out on his mother.
Back in DisneyLand at some carnival, we see Noah…
…he can’t can refuse. Given a choice between either killing Sylar or dieng at the hands of Noah, the guys chooses the third options and bails out into some other dimension kills himself.
Back over to Hiro & Ando, after letting Adam get away, the BFF head back to the bar and are enjoying a drink when suddenly Daphne (and dood who uses fear as his powers) give Hiro an offer he could couldn’t refuse. That to join them (and therefore have a chance of finding the formula) he would have to kill Ando. And Hiro does! Now the producers make light of this situation because we all know Hiro will turn back time and not kill Ando later on. But the damage has been done. The trust broken.
For Claire sees what her father truly is, and the extreme circumstances he can drive people to the point of commiting murder (or suicide as was the case). That he can never be trusted.
And you know who else can’t be trusted?
Dood was apparently showing both Nathan and Daphne images of Linderman so they follow whatever he says. This he did on the orders of the late still alive Mr. Petrelli!
Wow, Tim Kring’s actually two step ahead of Sunrise studios and brought back to life character who’s basis of establishment within the series was his death!
And on that note…
