We at deculture wish UAE a very happy, prosperous and raving 37th National Day, this December 2nd 2008.
I am not going to bore you with the history and significance of UAE. For that we have Wikipedia.
Here are just a few random thoughts.
If you’ve been paying attention, then well, we hail from the United Arab Emirates. None of the authors of the website are actually locals to the state, but we’re expatriates who’ve, well, lived all of our lives here.
On second thought, the egoist that I am, let me take this opportunity to inform our dear readers, that 2nd December 08 also marks my birthday. Yes you heard it right, Szafar’s budday! I am certainly not 37 years old, but I’ve come of age – 21 to be precise.
That alone leads me to realise that I’ve spent all the 21 years of my life here, and yes, I haven’t been granted nationality or even learned legible Arabic, and I’ve had a few mishaps and some sad events of inequality; but then, its hardly comparable to the things that have indeed turned out to be good and great. Infact, life’s been great in general. And I’ll consider myself lucky.
To be honest most of us living here should consider ourselves lucky and fortunate. And the fact that we are able to enjoy a pass time of games, anime, trance and tv serials in the comfort of our homes here, without a care in the world, goes to show that we are so bloody fortunate.
And so we take this opportunity to thank God for this beautiful place. A home that we have come to make of it – Congratulations UAE, you’ve certainly grown.
