A State of Trance 386

This is what I’m talking about!

Episode 386 ~ *****

This week’s show was one of the epic hybrid shows I have come to really love. In the first hour, Armin plays the tracks as any usual episode, which includes the Tune of the Week. In the next hour, Armin plays a live session recorded from one of his performances. This week we hear Armin’s live session from LA on New Year’s eve. Highlight’s include the middle section where we hear the crowd counting down to 2009.

So here’s this week’s tracklist:

1st hour – Regular program

01. Dash Berlin feat. Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren – Man On The Run (LIVE with Jaren in Los Angeles) [Aropa] ~ *****
02. Thomas Sagstad & Tyler Michaud – Renegades (Elevation Remix) [Black Hole] ~ ****
03. Tritonal feat. Christina Soto – Let Solitude [Flashover] ~ ****
04. Armin van Buuren feat. Cathy Burton – Rain (Cosmic Gate Remix) [Armind/Armada] ~ ****
05. Martin Roth & Alex Bartlett – Off The World (Lange Remix – First State Reshuffle) ~ ****
06. Oceania – Always (Stoneface & Terminal Remix) ~ ****
07. DJ Eco – American Blues [Tune Of The Week] ~ ****
08. Dreas & Alex Robert – Mormugao [Motion] ~ ***
09. Stacker & Detune – Rosary ~ ***

2nd hour – Armin Only: Imagine, “Together As One” in Los Angeles on New Year’s eve

Countdown The End Of 2008

01. Eric Prydz – Pjanoo
02. Wippenberg – Chakalaka
03. Guru Josh Project – Infinity (Jerome Isma-Ae Remix) w/ Barack Obama – The Night It Belongs To You (Acapella)
04. Rank 1 vs. Jochen Miller – And Then…
05. ID w/ Barack Obama – The Night It Belongs To You (Acapella)

01. Intro
02. Armin van Buuren – Imagine (LIVE guitar by Eller van Buuren)
03. Rank 1 – L.E.D. There Be Light
04. Sebastian Sand – Creeps (Ronski Speed Remix)
05. Sunlounger feat. Zara – Lost (Club Mix) – skipped in recording
06. Vengeance – Explain (Reminder Remix)
07. Sied van Riel – M.M.E.
08. Ferry Corsten feat. Betsie Larkin – Made Of Love
09. Armin van Buuren & DJ Shah feat. Chris Jones – Going Wrong (LIVE with Chris Jones & Eller van Buuren)
10. Lisa Miskovsky – Still Alive (Paul van Dyk Remix)
11. Andy Bagguley – Together As One (Michael Dow Remix)

The first half, as you can see from my ratings, was completely brilliant. As for the second half, like I’ve always said, any live session is always kickass. The amusing bit was the countdown where famous lines from Obama’s public speeches and Apollo missions were edited in. I nearly lol’d at these parts, except that Armin did a great mix of these.

Essentially, this is the show Armin should’ve played last week to start off the 2009. Perhaps he put together the last show in a hurry (and possibly before year end?)

Regardless, things are back on track, and trance and progressive looks to have another brilliant year ahead of it!

Great finding your site! I am an Armada label fan and Armin did a great event for welcoming in the new year! I hope to one day produce under his label, we can dream right 😛

Glad you liked the blog 🙂 And I’m sure you can work under his label if you try hard enough. After all, Armin was studying to be a lawyer and then became a DJ once he finished his degree!

Haha 🙂 Then there is hope, I work in the stock market industry, a far sight from music production. Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. Will keep coming back here for news and updates from your side.

The first half was amazing, and the way the music sped up for the countdown was totally sexed out!

Any updates on the Peppermint Club event?
